Boston Imperials Open Hockey Academy at Matignon High School

AAA Boys U15, U16, and U18 Academy Teams will take the ice in Fall 2020

Winchester, MA, January 21, 2020 —  The Boston Imperials Hockey Club have announced a strategic partnership with Matignon High School to open a national Tier 1 AAA Boys Hockey Academy in time for the Fall 2020 Season. The Academy will be known as the Boston Imperials Hockey Academy at Matignon High School.  Academy students will attend Matignon High School full-time and play a national Tier 1 schedule.  The Academy also announced the appointment of Nate Bostic as Academy Director.

Appointed after an extensive national search, Bostic has a long history of running hockey organizations, most recently serving as General Manager of the Islanders Hockey Club (and other roles) for the last 10 years.

“Putting our Academy at Matignon High School made total sense. They have such a rich history of hockey in Massachusetts. Marty Pierce, Shawn McEachern, Jerry Keefe, and many others. We wanted to add to the Matignon hockey tradition and continue  the pride the students, staff, faculty and alumni have in the school.  As a former Massachusetts High School hockey player, this is combining the best aspects of prep and club hockey within an elite academic environment and school community.” noted Bostic.

“Our mission is to use athletics to enhance the academic and social development of our student athletes. We also believe Matignon’s experiential learning model of education is ideal for the learning needs of what today’s students need to succeed in life.”  said Dennis Franczak, Boston Imperials founder and President.

“We are excited to welcome these young men into the Matignon High School Community.  The Imperials have been committed to finding a school that can challenge their student-athletes academically as well as providing a faith-based education, steeped in Matignon High School’s Catholic values,” stated Tim Welsh, Matignon’s Headmaster. “As we embark on a new academic model focused on experiential learning and providing our students with real-world relevancy and innovative academic opportunities, our Board of Trustees feels that this is a logical partnership given the Imperials mission of creating elite opportunities on the ice which do not currently exist in the greater Boston area.”

The Academy will run all operations of the teams competing for the Academy.  Matignon High School will continue to field its own hockey team competing within the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association.

The Boston Imperials are a USA Hockey Sanctioned Hockey Club headquartered in Winchester, MA with a National Tier 1 Academy Program at Matignon High School as well as fall Tier 1 and Tier 2 National Bound Boys and Girls teams at the U14-U19 Levels.
